From 6196c3ed2532db12d373da1ab73523dcbd301f37 Mon Sep 17 00:00:00 2001 From: "Anaz S. Aji" Date: Fri, 16 Oct 2026 14:46:30 +0700 Subject: [PATCH 01/22] ci(review): give the Cora Review job 30 minutes (#677) ## What Raise `timeout-minutes` of the Cora Review job from 10 to 30. ## Why The review action allows up to three LLM attempts of 600 s each, but the job was cancelled at 10 minutes. Medium sized PRs (about 850 added lines) were cancelled four times in a row (PRs for #674) although the same review finishes locally in about 5 minutes with no findings. Cancelled runs leave the required check red without any result. ## Testing - Config-only change; the job runs on this PR. - Local `cora review --base develop` on the affected diff passed. Part of #674. Follow-ups: part 2 (pre-commit hook v2 and e2e tests), part 3 (skill, docs, changelog). ## Testing - Unit tests for fingerprinting, marker store, bypass parsing (`--no-verify` prefixes, `-c core.hooksPath`, chained commands, pathspecs). - fmt, clippy `-D warnings` and the full test suite pass locally. --------- Signed-off-by: ajianaz Co-authored-by: ajianaz --- src/commands/hook_cmd.rs | 111 +++++- src/commands/review.rs | 20 + src/engine/commit_gate.rs | 792 ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ src/engine/mod.rs | 1 + src/main.rs | 20 + src/mcp/agent_tools.rs | 9 + 6 files changed, 952 insertions(+), 1 deletion(-) create mode 100644 src/engine/commit_gate.rs diff --git a/src/commands/hook_cmd.rs b/src/commands/hook_cmd.rs index a1c0719..603e5dd 100644 --- a/src/commands/hook_cmd.rs +++ b/src/commands/hook_cmd.rs @@ -14,7 +14,12 @@ pub fn execute_hook_install() -> Result<()> { ); println!( "{}", - " The hook will run `cora review --staged --format compact` before each commit.".dimmed() + " Before each commit the hook accepts a staged diff an agent already judged (`cora hook verify`)," + .dimmed() + ); + println!( + "{}", + " otherwise it runs `cora review --staged --ci --severity major`.".dimmed() ); println!("{}", " Use `cora hook uninstall` to remove.".dimmed()); @@ -29,3 +34,107 @@ pub fn execute_hook_uninstall() -> Result<()> { Ok(()) } + +/// Execute `hook verify`: may the staged diff be committed? +/// +/// Exit codes: 0 validated (or nothing reviewable staged), 10 validated but the +/// verdict blocks, 11 not validated. Aji" Date: Fri, 16 Oct 2026 15:29:41 +0700 Subject: [PATCH 03/22] feat(hook): pre-commit hook v2 accepts a validated diff and upgrades in place (#688) ## What Part 2 of 3 for #674 (part 1 is #676). - Hook template v2: `cora hook verify --quiet` first (0 pass, 10 deny), then the fallback `cora review --staged --ci --severity major`; a tooling error is reported as not a pass. - `cora hook install` recognises legacy v1 hooks and upgrades them in place instead of wrapping them a second time. - 12 end-to-end tests with real temporary git repos (agent verdict through MCP, hook, guard, upgrade). ## Why The hook is the fallback when the agent judge was not used, and must not re-review a diff that was already validated. Part of #674. ## Testing - Unit tests for the template and legacy detection. - tests/commit_gate.rs: 12 e2e tests, all passing; fmt, clippy -D warnings and the full suite pass. Aji" Date: Fri, 16 Oct 2026 16:56:33 +0700 Subject: [PATCH 07/22] fix(ignore): warn about cora-ignore markers that match nothing and add a reason separator (#692) ## What - A `cora-ignore` marker on a line that has findings but names none of them (typo, unknown rule, or explanation text that became part of the rule name) now prints a warning on stderr with the marker location, what it named and the rule ids on that line. - ` -- ` ends the rule list: `cora-ignore: sec-hardcoded-secret -- env var name` suppresses the finding and keeps the reason in the source. - Docs (Inline Suppression) and CHANGELOG updated. ## Why A suppression that silently does nothing makes people widen `ignore.rules` instead. Closes #679. Not done: warning about stale markers on clean lines (too noisy for diff reviews where only part of the file is visible); JSON/SARIF reporting of unmatched markers and a `--strict-markers` flag can follow. ## Testing - Unit tests: separator, trailing text, unknown rule, matching markers and clean-line markers not reported. - 3 end-to-end tests in tests/inline_ignore.rs reproducing the issue (warning, finding kept; separator suppresses). - fmt, clippy -D warnings and the full suite pass. Aji" <12648688+ajianaz@users.noreply.github.com> Date: Thu, 22 Oct 2026 20:37:55 +0700 Subject: [PATCH 08/22] chore: remove CLA gate (fleet CLA retirement, uteke#1548) (#694) MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=UTF-8 Content-Transfer-Encoding: 8bit ## What Remove the CLA gate from this repo: delete `.github/workflows/cla-check.yml`, and replace the CLA section in CONTRIBUTING.md with a single inbound=outbound license paragraph. (README CLA badge removed if present.) ## Why Fleet CLA retirement — owner decision 2026-10-22, tracked in codecoradev/uteke#1548. CLA's only real function (future relicensing of third-party contributions) is ~zero-value here (2 external contributors / 3 commits org-wide, ever); Apache-2.0 inbound=outbound legally suffices for our open-core model (hosted-service monetization is lawful without a CLA); CLA-free matches the repos we benchmark against and removes contributor friction. Re-introduction, if ever needed, is prospective-only. ## Testing - `git show --stat HEAD` shows only the CLA-related files changed - No other workflow touched (cora-review / lint / ci / release intact) - Branch CI green on this PR --------- Co-authored-by: ajianaz --- .github/workflows/cla-check.yml | 104 -------------------- AGENTS.md | 3 +- CLA_CORPORATE.md | 154 ------------------------------ CLA_INDIVIDUAL.md | 162 -------------------------------- CONTRIBUTING.md | 17 +--- 5 files changed, 4 insertions(+), 436 deletions(-) delete mode 100644 .github/workflows/cla-check.yml delete mode 100644 CLA_CORPORATE.md delete mode 100644 CLA_INDIVIDUAL.md diff --git a/.github/workflows/cla-check.yml b/.github/workflows/cla-check.yml deleted file mode 100644 index 0e30952..0000000 --- a/.github/workflows/cla-check.yml +++ /dev/null @@ -1,104 +0,0 @@ -name: CLA Check - -on: - pull_request: - types: [opened, synchronize, reopened] - -permissions: - pull-requests: write - contents: read - -jobs: - cla-check: - runs-on: ubuntu-latest - if: "!contains(fromJSON('[\"app/dependabot\", \"app/renovate\", \"github-actions[bot]\"]'), github.event.pull_request.user.login)" - steps: - - name: Fetch & check CLA signature - id: check - run: | - # Fetch signatures.json directly from raw GitHub (public repo) - # Use wget as primary (handles 200-with-404-body better than curl) - wget -q -O signatures.json "https://raw.githubusercontent.com/codecoradev/.github/main/.cla/signatures.json" 2>/dev/null \ - || curl -sfL "https://raw.githubusercontent.com/codecoradev/.github/main/.cla/signatures.json" -o signatures.json 2>/dev/null \ - || echo '{"signatures":[]}' > signatures.json - # Validate JSON — if invalid, use empty - python3 -c "import json; json.load(open('signatures.json'))" 2>/dev/null \ - || echo '{"signatures":[]}' > signatures.json - python3 - << 'EOF' - import json, os - - author = os.environ["PR_AUTHOR"] - with open("signatures.json") as f: - data = json.load(f) - - signatures = data.get("signatures", []) - found = any( - s.get("github_username", "").lower() == author.lower() - for s in signatures - ) - - with open(os.environ["GITHUB_OUTPUT"], "a") as f: - f.write(f"signed={'true' if found else 'false'}\n") - - print(f"CLA signed by @{author}: {found}") - EOF - env: - PR_AUTHOR: ${{ github.event.pull_request.user.login }} - - - name: Comment on PR (same-repo, best effort) - if: steps.check.outputs.signed != 'true' && github.event.pull_request.head.repo.full_name == github.repository - continue-on-error: true - uses: actions/github-script@v9 - with: - script: | - const author = '${{ github.event.pull_request.user.login }}'; - const prNumber = ${{ github.event.pull_request.number }}; - - const body = [ - '## ⚠️ CodeCoraDev CLA Bot', - '', - `Hi @${author}! Aji" <12648688+ajianaz@users.noreply.github.com> Date: Thu, 22 Oct 2026 21:38:41 +0700 Subject: [PATCH 09/22] chore(deps): fix dependency-audit findings (#695) (#696) ## What Dependency-audit fixes: lockfile refreshes + targeted minor updates for the vulnerable packages; transitive advisories with no compatible fix get a documented, dated audit-ignore (`.cargo/audit.toml`). ## Why Closes #695. The Security audit gates have been red on `develop` (pre-existing; isolated during the fleet CLA retirement, uteke#1548). This PR makes the gates honestly green. ## Testing - `cargo audit` before/after locally (advisory DB refreshed): remaining findings = none beyond the documented ignores - JS audits re-run locally; remaining lows documented (not gate-failing) - CI on this PR: all audit gates expected green Co-authored-by: ajianaz --- Cargo.lock | 449 +++++++++++++++++++++++++++-------------------------- 1 file 5bad2883bc9c67a8d98412150741d7d8c67e1e23 Mon Sep 17 00:00:00 2001 From: "Anaz S. Aji" <12648688+ajianaz@users.noreply.github.com> Date: Tue, 27 Oct 2026 12:44:15 +0700 Subject: [PATCH 10/22] fix(mcp): report how much of the project a scan_finalize verdict covers (#693) ## What - New optional input `batches_judged` on `cora.scan_finalize`; the batches are recomputed statelessly from the project, like `scan_prepare`. - Result fields: `coverage` (`complete`, `partial`, or `unverified` when not declared), `total_batches`, `batches_judged`, `files_judged`, `files_total`. - A partial run says `Judged 1/11 batches (3/23 files)` and `should_block` is null instead of false. Undeclared runs keep the boolean and are labelled unverified. - The `/cora-review` skill passes `batches_judged`; CHANGELOG updated. ## Why Judging one batch and finalizing read as a clean verdict for the whole directory. Closes #685. ## Testing - Unit tests: partial, complete (dedupe, out-of-range ignored), unverified, and `scan_finalize` end to end. - fmt, clippy -D warnings and the full suite pass. The `/cora-review` skill now passes `batches_judged`. - **Custom rules are validated and the docs match the schema (#684, #678).** `cora config validate` and config load now reject an invalid regex, an empty or duplicate id, an id that shadows a built-in rule, an empty message and an unknown `languages` value, naming the rule. `languages` accepts language names (`"rust"`) as well as extensions (`"rs"`); `languages` and `exclude` are optional. `cora config validate --dry-run [--path DIR]` runs each custom rule and prints how many lines it matched. `docs/configuration.md` now shows the real schema (`rules_engine.custom`); the 0.19.0 entry no longer says `custom_rules`. - **`cora-ignore` no longer fails silently (#679).** A marker on a line with findings that names none of them (a typo, an unknown rule, or explanation text that became part of the rule name) now prints a warning on stderr naming the marker and the rule ids on that line. ` -- ` ends the rule list, so `cora-ignore: sec-hardcoded-secret -- env var name` suppresses the finding and keeps the reason in the source. - The `Cora Review` workflow now fails with an error naming each empty secret (`CORA_API_KEY`, `CORA_BASE_URL`, `CORA_MODEL`) instead of running without them. diff --git a/src/commands/cora_review_skill.md b/src/commands/cora_review_skill.md index e91aae2..a6e8259 100644 --- a/src/commands/cora_review_skill.md +++ b/src/commands/cora_review_skill.md @@ -27,7 +27,7 @@ Run this review on the staged change **before each `git commit`**. Show the user the result. ## Notes diff --git a/src/mcp/agent_tools.rs b/src/mcp/agent_tools.rs index e5fa363..abe5d6e 100644 --- a/src/mcp/agent_tools.rs +++ b/src/mcp/agent_tools.rs @@ -112,6 +112,7 @@ pub fn tools() -> Vec { "properties": { "path": { "type": "string", "description": "The same path given to cora.scan_prepare" }, "files_fingerprint": { "type": "string", "description": "files_fingerprint from cora.scan_prepare; if given and the project changed since, the call is refused" }, + "batches_judged": { "type": "array", "items": { "type": "integer" }, "description": "0-based indexes of the scan_prepare batches you actually judged. Aji" <12648688+ajianaz@users.noreply.github.com> Date: Tue, 27 Oct 2026 12:53:06 +0700 Subject: [PATCH 11/22] fix(rules): flag only deliberate TODO markers, skip eprintln and invariant expect (#698) ## What - `bug-todo`: only an upper-case `TODO`, `FIXME`, `HACK` or `XXX` whole word inside a comment. `pub mod todo;`, `todo_state` and prose like "the todo list" are no longer flagged. - `bug-println`: no longer matches `eprintln!` / `eprint!`; `println!`, `print!` and `dbg!` are still flagged. - `bug-expect`: flags only `.expect("")`; a non-empty message states an invariant. `bug-unwrap` still covers bare `unwrap()`. ## Why 22 of 22 `bug-todo` hits and all library `bug-println` hits on a real workspace were false positives (#681, #682). Closes #681. Refs #682: treating the modules of a binary crate as program code is not done here and stays open. ## Testing - Regression tests for the issue repros: identifier, module name, prose, lower-case, and the real markers; stdout vs stderr macros; `expect` with and without a message. - fmt, clippy -D warnings and the full suite pass. A partial run says `Judged 1/11 batches (3/23 files)` and `should_block` is null instead of false. The `/cora-review` skill now passes `batches_judged`. +- **Three built-in rules stop flagging idioms (#681, part of #682).** `bug-todo` fires only on a deliberate marker: upper-case `TODO`, `FIXME`, `HACK` or `XXX` inside a comment (not `pub mod todo;`, `todo_state` or the word "todo" in prose). `bug-println` no longer matches `eprintln!` / `eprint!` (stderr diagnostics). `bug-expect` flags only `.expect("")`; a non-empty message states an invariant and is the recommended alternative to `unwrap()`. Treating every module of a binary crate as program code is still open in #682. - The `Cora Review` workflow now fails with an error naming each empty secret (`CORA_API_KEY`, `CORA_BASE_URL`, `CORA_MODEL`) instead of running without them. diff --git a/src/engine/rules/builtin.rs b/src/engine/rules/builtin.rs index 7866c3e..1441d9a 100644 --- a/src/engine/rules/builtin.rs +++ b/src/engine/rules/builtin.rs @@ -69,7 +69,9 @@ pub fn builtin_rules() -> Vec { }, CustomRule { id: "bug-println".to_string(), - pattern: r"(?:println!|dbg!|print!\s*\()".to_string(), + // `eprintln!` / `eprint!` write to stderr (diagnostics) and are not matched: + // the macro name must not be preceded by an identifier character (#682). + pattern: r"(?:^|[^A-Za-z0-9_])(?:println!|dbg!|print!\s*\()".to_string(), severity: Severity::Minor, message: "Debug output macro found.
