- Around line 127-130: Update the rate-limit refresh flow in AppContext so each
request is identifiable and only the latest request for the current token can
update rate-limit state or localStorage. Invalidate or supersede an in-flight
PAT refresh when the token changes or is deleted.
- Line 126: Update the callback using tokenToUse to invalidate the previous
identity’s quota in state and oe_rate_limit whenever the token changes, before
fetching the new rate limit; do not make invalidation depend on fetchRateLimit
succeeding.
- Line 130: Update refreshRateLimit and the existing rate-limit-update event
listener to catch failures from their localStorage writes; continue using the
in-memory rate-limit result and dispatching the update even when storage is
unavailable.
Review comments at @src/pages/SettingsPage.jsx:
- Line 329: Move the quota prompt text in SettingsPage to the application’s
existing i18n resources, then render it through the established translation
mechanism instead of embedding the user-visible string directly. Preserve the
prompt’s current wording.
Review comments at @src/pages/SettingsPage.test.jsx:
- Around line 97-105: Extend the SettingsPage tests beyond refresh-button
invocation to cover quota refresh after PAT save and deletion, and verify the
displayed quota updates after the asynchronous result resolves.
Review comments at @src/services/github.js:
- Line 148: Update the response handling condition for res so HTTP 429 responses
follow the same authoritative rate-limit-header path as 403 responses. Add a
test for a 429 response with x-ratelimit-remaining set to 0 that verifies those
headers are used instead of querying /rate_limit.

Externalize the new quota prompt.
Move this user-visible string to the application’s i18n resources. As per path instructions, “User-visible strings should be externalized to resource files (i18n).”

hey @Ritik-Yadav, pushed updates addressing the edge cases (429 rate limit inspection, storage fail-safes, and stale token invalidation). vitest suite and all ci checks are all green now whenever you get a chance to take a look. |

Remove the redundant quota refresh after savePat(token).
savePat(token) and refreshRateLimit(token) start separate quota requests. Their guards do not order these requests against each other. If the first request completes after the second, savePat can overwrite newer displayed and persisted quota with stale data.
Move token invalidation into savePat, then remove the second refresh. Keep the delete-path refresh because savePat('') does not fetch quota. Update the save test to expect no refresh call.

Additional Notes:
• Investigated why clicking the API Quota refresh icon in Settings falsely jumped the displayed quota to 5000 / 5000.
• Root cause: GitHub's
GET /rate_limitendpoint does not track live core request consumption under PAT authentication and returns static 5000/5000, whereas authoritativex-ratelimit-*headers from REST API endpoints reflect real-time usage.• Updated
fetchRateLimitinsrc/services/github.jsto inspect livex-ratelimit-limit,x-ratelimit-remaining,x-ratelimit-used, andx-ratelimit-resetvia a lightweight zero-payloadHEADrequest, with a graceful fallback to/rate_limit.• Updated
refreshRateLimitinsrc/context/AppContext.jsxto persist the updated quota tolocalStorage(oe_rate_limit) and broadcast therate-limit-updateevent so all components (e.g. Navbar) synchronize immediately.• Enhanced
SettingsPageto trigger live quota refresh on PAT save and deletion.• Added comprehensive unit tests in
src/services/github.test.jscovering header parsing, fallback handling, 403 responses, and Bearer/token headers.• Added test coverage in
src/pages/SettingsPage.test.jsxverifying refresh button invocation and quota display (57/57 Vitest tests passing).Checklist
