Summary

  • Replace the barely-moving linear RMS bars in the recording overlay with layered sine waves animated at ~60 fps.
  • Map levels from dBFS (−54…−16) so normal speech fills the meter; fast attack / slow release smoothing.
  • Poll the recorder level every 33 ms (was 100 ms); pill now shows an elapsed timer.
  • Flat dim line while waiting for first samples; small idle ripple during silence.

Test plan

  • python -m unittest discover -s tests (offscreen)
  • ruff check / ruff format --check (0.15.15)
  • Smoke test on Windows with a real microphone

Replace the barely-moving linear RMS bars with layered sine waves animated
at ~60 fps. Levels are mapped from dBFS so normal speech fills the meter,
smoothed with fast attack / slow release, and polled every 33 ms. The pill
also shows an elapsed timer.
