Python-Games

These simple games, made on Python using my Pycharm IDE, are/were my first foray into coding.

By looking at these projects chronologically, one can see the development of efficiency in my coding, as well as clarity of format and commenting.

Games (In Chronological Order):

  1. Battleship - Spring 2025: A single-player console-based version of the classic board game, Battleship. Ships are randomly and secretly places throughout the grid, and the player has a limited number of shots to try to sink all of the ships. There are ranks depending on how many shots remain upon winning.

Coded as my final project for Stanford's "Code in Place" course, this was my first real project done on my own. I was so proud of it! Looking back now, it is clearly a hot mess - but it runs! I think it was quite ambitious for a beginner programmer. I intend to make this game once again later, implementing new understandings and skills, to juxtapose with this first attempt.

  2. Connect 4 - Fall 2025: Another classic board game - Connect 4! Two real players compete, dropping their tokens down columns. The tokens sink to the bottom row, and subsequent tokens place in the same column stack upon the prior ones. Players seek to create a straight line of their tokens (in my code, "X"s and "O"s). Diagonals count as well!

This was a much simpler game to code than Battleship. That, combined with the fact that my coding abilities had sharpened and expanded by this time, resulted in me being able to complete this game in one afternoon. I had just finished getting my Python Certification by completing "Introduction to Python Programming" offered by Georgia Tech.
