Reason: Refresh MiniMax's active text catalog for MiniMax-M3.1-Flash and correct MiniMax-M3 pricing to the published context and service tiers.

This updates the existing parameter-refresh PR. Its previous flat M3 pricing proposal is obsolete: the official pricing documentation specifies separate Standard context tiers and a 1.5× Priority rate.

Changes:

  • Keep only MiniMax-M3.1-Flash and MiniMax-M3 in the built-in MiniMax text catalog, with Flash as the provider default. Remove the M2.7 built-in and default mappings while retaining generic custom-model passthrough.
  • Record Flash's 1,000,000-token context, text/image/video input, and USD/M input/output/cache-read rates of $0.15/$0.60/$0.015. Cache-write pricing remains unknown; no model-specific output limit is inferred.
  • Restore M3 Standard rates of $0.30/$1.20/$0.06 at ≤512k request-input tokens and $0.60/$2.40/$0.12 above that boundary, plus Priority at 1.5×. Retain the estimator's existing 512,000-token boundary: the official page publishes 512k without defining the integer expansion.
  • Normalize Flash Messages requests to adaptive thinking, default effort to max, support low/medium/high/xhigh/max through output_config.effort, reject unsupported effort values including none, and omit unsupported service_tier. The existing custom-body mechanism supports xhigh without expanding unrelated Claude effort controls.
  • Keep M3's adaptive/disabled thinking behavior and disabled Messages default; omit effort because M3 ignores it. Preserve unrelated providers and custom-model request parameters.
  • Update current usage documentation and add seven regression tests for the catalog, defaults, pricing boundaries, request normalization, effort validation, and custom-model passthrough.

Validation (Node 22, repository install/test commands executed without bot credentials):

  • npm ci — passed for the root manifest/lockfile.
  • node --require ./test-shims/cjs-shim.cjs --import tsx --test src/utils/__tests__/minimax.test.ts — 7/7 passed.
  • Root typecheck:refactor, typecheck:utils, and typecheck:loop-tests — passed as part of npm run verify:ci.
  • npm run test:loop — final suite 90/90 passed.
  • npm --prefix desktop run typecheck:refactor — passed.
  • npm run verify:ci — stopped at the existing desktop dependency audit (15 vulnerabilities); the earlier PR head also failed its desktop audit. Dependency upgrades are outside this change.
  • npm --prefix desktop ci — Electron download failed with ETIMEDOUT.
  • npm --prefix desktop test — 344 passed, 2 failed because jsdom is unavailable. No desktop dependency or test files were changed.
  • git diff --cached --check and the configured staged-diff secret scan — passed.

No live inference request was made, and Electron UI/visual smoke checks could not be completed with the failed desktop setup.

📝 Walkthrough

The change adds MiniMax-M3.1-Flash, updates MiniMax model defaults and metadata, and applies model-specific request and effort handling. It also updates the MiniMax documentation and adds tests for pricing and request configuration.

Changes: MiniMax model support

Layer / File(s) Summary
Define MiniMax models and defaults
src/utils/model/providers.ts, src/utils/model/configs.ts, src/utils/effort.ts, src/utils/thinking.ts, README.en.md, src/utils/__tests__/minimax.test.ts
The catalog adds MiniMax-M3.1-Flash and updates MiniMax-M3 metadata. All listed model configurations now select Flash. Effort and thinking helpers use MiniMax model metadata. The README documents model capabilities, pricing, and API differences. Tests cover model metadata and pricing.
Configure MiniMax requests
src/services/api/claude.ts, src/utils/model/providers.ts, src/utils/__tests__/minimax.test.ts
The request builder applies MiniMax-specific request configuration. Flash uses adaptive thinking and validates supported effort values. M3 defaults to disabled thinking and removes empty output configuration. Service tier is removed for models that do not support it. Tests cover these behaviors and unchanged parameters for custom models.

Honor CLAUDE_CODE_DISABLE_ADAPTIVE_THINKING for M3.

MiniMax-M3 supports only adaptive and disabled thinking. Do not preserve { type: 'enabled', budget_tokens }, because that is not an M3 Messages form. However, the caller creates that fallback when the environment variable is truthy, and configureMiniMaxRequest converts it back to adaptive. The setting therefore has no effect for M3.

Treat M3 as an exception and send disabled when the variable is truthy. Keep hasThinking consistent so temperature and context handling also reflect the disabled state. Add coverage for the caller path.
