Adds Oxlint as a third toolchain option next to ESLint and Biome, for both React and Solid. You can pick it from the toolchain prompt or with --toolchain oxlint.
It's lint-only for now (no Oxfmt yet). A new project gets:
an .oxlintrc.json
a lint script and the oxlint dev dependency
a short Linting section in the generated README
React config
It uses Oxlint's default correctness rules plus the React plugin, adjusted to match the recommended preset in eslint-plugin-react-hooks:
rules-of-hooks is turned on. Oxlint leaves it off by default.
exhaustive-deps, incompatible-library and unsupported-syntax are warnings. As an error, incompatible-library flags TanStack Table's useReactTable.
purity and set-state-in-effect are off because the base scaffold trips them (new Date() in the footer and the theme toggle's effect).
Solid uses the same setup without the React plugin.
Testing
Added tests in packages/create/tests/toolchains.test.ts
These scaffolds lint clean: React default, blank, router-only and Rsbuild; Solid default, blank and Rsbuild
tanstack add oxlint works on an existing Rsbuild project, and adding ESLint after that is blocked as expected
Installed, linted and built a default React app
Some add-on demo pages still have lint errors under Oxlint. Biome's toolchain fails on them too, so I've left them for a separate PR.

New Features
Added Oxlint as a linter option when creating React and Solid projects. Generated projects include Oxlint configuration, a lint command, and setup guidance.
Documentation
Updated toolchain and setup documentation to include Oxlint.
The React config enables react/rules-of-hooks (Oxlint puts it in the off-by-default
pedantic category) and sets exhaustive-deps, incompatible-library and
unsupported-syntax to warn, matching eslint-plugin-react-hooks' recommended preset.
purity and set-state-in-effect are off because the base scaffold triggers them.
No actionable comments were generated in the recent review.
Walkthrough
React and Solid scaffolds now support Oxlint with generated configuration and a lint script. CLI validation and scaffold references list Oxlint as a toolchain option, and documentation describes its setup. Two React add-on assets also remove unused catch bindings without changing their failure handling.
React and Solid scaffolds gain Oxlint metadata, configuration, and a lint script. The exclusive linter choice includes Oxlint.
Document and test generated projects packages/create/src/frameworks/{react,solid}/project/base/README.md.ejs, packages/create/tests/toolchains.test.ts
Generated READMEs conditionally describe the Oxlint lint command. Tests cover Oxlint availability and generated setup for both frameworks.
Expose Oxlint in CLI support and documentation packages/cli/src/command-line.ts, packages/cli/skills/create-app-scaffold/references/*, ARCHITECTURE.md, frameworks/FRAMEWORK-STRUCTURE.md, cli-aliases/*/README.md, .changeset/oxlint-toolchain.md
CLI validation messages and scaffold references include Oxlint. Framework documentation, CLI alias READMEs, and the changeset describe the option and its generated configuration.
Blank scaffolds now document the Oxlint lint command. No remaining issue identified here prevents merging after normal checks.

Include the Oxlint instructions in blank scaffolds.
When projectPreset is blank, this section does not render because it sits inside the nonblank README branch. The generated package still has a lint script, but the README does not document it. The Solid template has the same gap at Line 146. Add the Linting section to both blank branches, or place it outside the blank/nonblank conditional. (raw.githubusercontent.com)

Thanks for adding this. Can you share the exact add-on combinations that still fail lint? I’d like to check which failures come from the generated demo code before this becomes a selectable toolchain.
AI review notes:
The toolchain patch at fd1e1f37 applied to current main and all 10 workspace projects built. In disposable Bun apps, the generated lint command passed for React with Rsbuild, Solid with Vite, and React with Form, Query, and Table. The last case produced three warnings and zero errors with Oxlint 1.91.0.
A follow-up found two reproducible errors. The generated Better Auth demo and AI image demo each catch an unused err. Using catch { in better-auth.tsx and ai-image.tsx keeps their error handling intact. With those two changes applied locally, all seven tested add-on fixtures passed lint. Please fold those fixes into the PR if they cover the failures you saw.
Thanks for adding this. The two demo fixes and blank-app lint instructions are now folded into this branch, along with current main.
AI review notes:
The updated head is c0085731. All 10 workspace builds, lint, 575 unit tests, and all 8 blocking browser tests passed through the normal commit hook. All 14 generated scaffold lint checks passed with the declared minimum Oxlint 1.90.0, including React and Solid blank/Rsbuild variants and seven add-on fixtures. Fresh React Rsbuild, Solid blank, and React Form/Query/Table apps installed, linted, built, and typechecked outside the monorepo.
The dependency archive has no lifecycle scripts or mandatory runtime dependencies. Oxlint is generated as a development dependency only. Its declared Node range is ^20.19.0 || >=22.12.0. The CLI runtime dependency graph is unchanged.
Aggregate separately gzipped JavaScript grows by 3 bytes in the CLI and 2,431 bytes in the create engine versus current main, within the applicable budgets. Required hosted checks and review still need to finish before merge.
Hey Tanner, thanks for taking a look at this PR! I should have been more specific, the original documentation I had for failing add-ons (before you folding fixes into this branch) were:
React ai - unused err
React better-auth - unused err
React table - ! after an optional chain
React sentry - rules-of-hooks with useEffect in the inline errorComponent
Solid better-auth - unused err (same as react better-auth)
Appreciate you working on this branch! More than happy to help with any other needed changes
