Adds the optional @lonik/themer integration requested in #508. It connects the provider to React Start and uses the existing header toggle. Saved light, dark and auto preferences remain compatible, including changes from older open tabs.
The same theme is applied before hydration in standard and blank apps. Blocked browser storage falls back to an in-memory system preference. The integration follows the current CLI support for React add-ons with Vite.
Normal Husky hook passed ten workspace builds, lint, 569 unit tests and all nine blocking browser cases.
The permanent regression blocks client modules and checks the unhydrated document after first contentful paint, including stored light/dark, system light/dark and blocked storage. Attribute timing establishes the selected class before paint. Reload, cross-tab updates and system changes pass without hydration errors.
Standard and blank Bun apps build and type-check. Adding Themer to an existing npm app also builds and type-checks with normal peer checks.
The added storage-event regression failed with a SecurityError before the adapter fix and passes afterward.
Dependency inspection found no install hooks or runtime network requests in Themer. The npm audit findings match the framework-only typography baseline exactly; no new advisories were introduced.
The existing Rsbuild restriction on non-toolchain add-ons remains enforced. No deployment providers or external infrastructure were contacted by tests.
Summary by CodeRabbit
New Features
React Start projects can optionally include Themer, with a theme toggle for light, dark, and system modes.
Saved theme preferences are applied before the page hydrates and persist across reloads. Theme choices stay synchronized across browser tabs, and system mode responds to changes in the device’s color scheme.
Theme selection continues to work when browser storage is unavailable, and the initial page colors remain consistent with the selected theme.
The React add-on registers @lonik/themer, adds a provider and theme toggle, and initializes the theme in the generated root document. End-to-end tests cover saved preferences, system themes, storage failures, reloads, and cross-tab updates.

Summary
Add-on registration and provider packages/create/src/frameworks/react/add-ons/themer/*, .changeset/soft-themes-switch.md
Registers the add-on and its dependency. The provider reads and writes theme preferences, maps system to auto when writing, and handles matching storage events. The README describes the integration and preference behavior.
Shares the theme initialization script and emits it when Themer is enabled. The root document also suppresses hydration warnings under that condition.
Theme toggle and browser verification packages/create/src/frameworks/react/project/base/src/components/ThemeToggle.tsx.ejs, packages/cli/tests-e2e/themer-smoke.spec.ts
Uses the provider-backed toggle when Themer is enabled and keeps the existing toggle otherwise. End-to-end tests cover initialization, storage behavior, reloads, and cross-tab changes.

Apply the system theme when storage is blocked.
When storage access throws, the script exits before applying the system theme. A blank app can initially render with light browser colors even when the system prefers dark. Catch the storage error separately and continue with auto.

Update the themeInitScript in the root route template to catch localStorage
access failures separately and continue with the default auto mode. Preserve the
existing system-preference resolution and theme application behavior so blocked
storage still applies the preferred light or dark theme.

The blocked-storage prepaint gap is fixed too. The theme script now keeps going with the system preference when storage is unavailable.
AI review notes:
At 5a8b382e, the exact template script failed a dark-system/throwing-storage regression before the fix and passed after it. The permanent starter test now requires the correct root class before first contentful paint even with denied storage, rather than relying on CSS fallback. A second browser test blocks client modules in blank apps and checks the root class and color scheme for both light and dark system preferences.
The normal hook passed all 10 workspace builds, lint, 569 unit tests, and all 10 blocking browser tests without retries. The earlier CI fixture was also corrected to use pnpm, which the required CI job provides. Hosted checks and current review must pass on this new head before merge.

Adds the optional
@lonik/themerintegration requested in #508. It connects the provider to React Start and uses the existing header toggle. Savedlight, darkandautopreferences remain compatible, including changes from older open tabs. The same theme is applied before hydration in standard and blank apps. Blocked browser storage falls back to an in-memory system preference. The integration follows the current CLI support for React add-ons with Vite.
Fixes #508.
