[Fix] Mode profile choices leak between VS Code windows - #2110
The mode -> provider profile map is stored in shared extension storage, so every VS Code window reads and writes the same one. Selecting a profile in window 2 overwrote the entry window 1 relied on, and a subtask started from window 1 in a different mode (also mode switches and history restore) picked up window 2's model config.
Fix
ClineProvider keeps an in-memory map of the profiles chosen in its own window and checks it before the shared map. All mode-profile lookups and writes go through two helpers (getModeConfigId / setModeConfig); the shared write is unchanged.
Limitations
The per-window map is not persisted across window reloads.
Each window snapshots the shared mode map when it opens. Modes absent from that snapshot keep the window's current profile. Cached IDs whose profile was removed (e.g. by a reset) fall back to the shared map.
Tests
Added a regression test in ClineProvider.spec.ts. ClineProvider suites and check-types pass.
Mode-specific provider profile selections now remain scoped to the current window.
A window’s explicit profile selection takes precedence over its opening settings and conflicting shared settings.
Modes without a window-specific selection use the profile mapping captured when the window opened, or shared settings if no opening mapping is available.
Missing, unconfigured, or outdated saved profiles fall back without replacing the parent task’s profile.
If saving a selection fails, the previous window-specific selection is restored.
ClineProvider now tracks mode-to-profile selections per window. It snapshots shared settings at startup and uses local selections, the snapshot, or shared settings to resolve profiles. Mode switching, profile persistence and activation, history restoration, reset, and delegation use these helpers.

ClineProvider captures the shared mode-to-profile mapping at startup. Local selections take precedence over the snapshot. If a cached profile is stale, lookup consults shared settings. Writes update local and persisted mappings. ProviderSettingsManager returns a copy of the stored mapping. Tests cover precedence, fallback, snapshot-read failure, stale profiles, write failures, reset, and map-copy behavior.
History restoration, mode switching, profile persistence and activation, reset, and delegation use the window-aware helpers. Test setups initialize the snapshot. Delegation tests verify local precedence and shared-setting fallback.

Explanation
[#2109] ClineProvider resolves mode profiles from a window-local selection or opening snapshot before using shared storage. Mode switching, history restoration, and delegation use the lookup. Regression tests cover local precedence, snapshot behavior, stale profiles, and delegated tasks. If the opening snapshot cannot be read, lookup falls back to shared storage.
Full details: Out of Scope Changes check
Explanation
[#2109] The provider and settings-manager changes implement window-local mode-profile lookup. The test changes cover the lookup, delegation, storage reads, and test setup. The whole-PR summary shows no unrelated changes.
Full details: Lifecycle Resource Cleanup
Explanation
The changed lifecycle paths do not introduce a concrete resource leak or duplicate work after cancellation, disposal, or restart. The new snapshot reads profile data under the existing lock. Reset clears the local map and captures a new snapshot. Mode switching retains its cancellation checks.
Full details: Persistence Integrity
Explanation
The new snapshot can hide and overwrite an imported mode default. importExport.ts:206-230 persists imported mode mappings without refreshing ClineProvider's snapshot. If an imported custom mode was absent at window startup, getModeConfigId returns undefined (ClineProvider.ts:2183-2190). A later mode switch writes the current profile over the imported mapping (ClineProvider.ts:2149-2157). setConfiguration also writes mappings without updating the snapshot (src/extension/api.ts:631-639). The prior failed-write concern is addressed for the tested sequential case: setModeConfig restores the previous local choice on rejection, and the new test covers it.
Resolution
Propagate successful imports and setConfiguration mode-map updates to the affected window's local view. Preserve isolation from writes by other windows. Add regression tests for imported and API-provided defaults, including a mode absent from the opening snapshot.
Full details: Regression Evidence
Explanation
Two changed behaviors lack focused regression coverage. ClineProvider.ts:474 captures the opening snapshot, but the snapshot tests replace it or call the capture helper directly (ClineProvider.spec.ts:563,4502-4532). They do not verify constructor capture. The new snapshot lookup also ignores later API.setConfiguration mappings because that API writes directly to shared storage (api.ts:631-639). Its test uses a fake provider and checks only manager calls (api-configuration.spec.ts:13-43).
Resolution
Add constructor-level tests for opening snapshot isolation and snapshot-read failure. Make API configuration writes update the window-local choice, and add a regression test that verifies a later mode lookup uses the API-supplied mapping.

Do not fall back to shared mode profiles after a failed snapshot.
If getModeConfigIds() rejects during construction, initialModeConfigIds stays {} until the window resets. Modes this window has not changed then read the shared map, so another window's later selection can reach this window's mode switches and delegated subtasks. The only signal is a log line. This failure path predates the change, which reads the shared map for every mode. A safe correction is not established: a later re-read would capture the other window's selection, not the opening state.

Update the `getModeConfigIds()` snapshot failure path so a rejected snapshot
cannot leave `initialModeConfigIds` as `{}` and cause unchanged modes to fall
back to the shared map. Preserve an explicit unavailable state and ensure mode
selection and delegated subtasks do not use another window’s later shared
selections when the opening snapshot failed.
Add a test that exercises the constructor snapshot capture.
The shared fixture at ClineProvider.spec.ts:557 replaces the constructor snapshot with {} for every test in that file. The snapshot tests then inject initialModeConfigIds directly or call captureInitialModeConfigIds() themselves. No test constructs a provider with a stored mode mapping, changes that mapping in storage, and checks the lookup. If the constructor call at ClineProvider.ts:410 is removed, the snapshot stays {} and lookups fall through to the shared value. No current test fails. Add a test that builds a provider with a seeded modeApiConfigs mapping, changes that mapping afterward, and asserts that getModeConfigId still returns the value captured at construction.

Fixes #2109
Problem
The mode -> provider profile map is stored in shared extension storage, so every VS Code window reads and writes the same one. Selecting a profile in window 2 overwrote the entry window 1 relied on, and a subtask started from window 1 in a different mode (also mode switches and history restore) picked up window 2's model config.
Fix
ClineProviderkeeps an in-memory map of the profiles chosen in its own window and checks it before the shared map. All mode-profile lookups and writes go through two helpers (getModeConfigId/setModeConfig); the shared write is unchanged.Limitations
