Closing for now. Babel 8 needs @babel/core and @babel/preset-env to be updated together, and ts-jest 29 still requires @babel/core 7, so npm ci fails. Babel 8 also needs Node 22.18+, and we still test on Node 20. We will revisit when ts-jest supports Babel 8.
