Summary

  • Raise the default maxSteps for the Agent operation from 20 to 40.
  • Matches the n8n Connect gateway, which already forces maxSteps: 40. Users on their own API key now get the same default.

Why

At 20 steps, longer agent runs stop partway through a task. With 40 steps, runs continue until the task finishes or the session timeout ends them.

Linear: RLY-294

Test plan

  • Run an Agent task that needs more than 20 steps and check that it continues past step 20.
  • Check that a maxSteps value set explicitly on the node still overrides the default.

Made with Cursor

Lets longer agent runs continue until the session timeout instead of stopping around 20 steps.
