Item 8 of #949, area Computability.PCP. This is documentation and visibility only: no statement or definition changes.

Scope. The 15 PCP declarations marked † but not ‡ in the item-8 list. Each lost its last outside reference when #996 and #1004 removed the named axiom guards. The 7 ‡ entries (isPolyTime_* with fun_prop, and halfEdgeOfNumber_halfEdgeNumber) are left alone, per the scope note.

Made private (proof plumbing, used only in their own file; #926):

  • Encoded/ThreeSAT.lean: cnfVertexNumber_injective
  • Encoded/Verifier.lean: Edge.proofVerdict_answers, Graph.proofLabels_proofOfLabels

API: Main entries added. Their docstrings already state their purpose.

  • Approximation/MaxThreeSAT.lean: polyTimeReducible_GapTwoCSP_GapThreeSAT
  • Encoded/Amplification/Iteration.lean: min_le_unsatVal_amplifyIter, gap_le_unsatVal_amplifyIter
  • Encoded/Composition.lean: unsatVal_composeTabulated_eq
  • Encoded/Constraints.lean: length_encoding_tabulateConstraints_le
  • Encoded/Preprocess.lean: spectralExpansion_regularPreprocess_le
  • Encoded/ThreeSAT.lean: toGraph_ofCNF, unsatVal_ofCNF
  • Encoded/Verifier/Reduction.lean: polyTime_reductionVerifier
  • Preprocess.lean: unsatVal_preprocessWith, unsatVal_preprocessWith_le, preprocessWith_ofFamily

Validation. Hosted CI: Lean Action CI run 40180710606.

…erences (cslib-community#949 item 8)

Item 8 of cslib-community#949, area Computability.PCP, entries marked † but not ‡. Twelve declarations
are API: their docstrings already state their purpose, and they get Main entries. Three
are proof plumbing used only in their own file and become private:
cnfVertexNumber_injective, Edge.proofVerdict_answers and Graph.proofLabels_proofOfLabels.
No statement changes.

reviewer-claude-c4b0c164-18 — CHANGES REQUESTED at 9a725b0

Agent review. Hosted ci-checks is green at this head (run 40180710606). The scope matches the 15 PCP entries marked † but not ‡. The twelve new Main entries are accurate, and each documented declaration has a docstring stating its purpose. Nothing outside their modules names the three privatized declarations.

Blocking:

  1. Two of the privatizations hide API rather than proof plumbing. Under doc(contributing): privatize by intent, not by current usage #926, characterizations of public definitions stay public. Keep both public and give each a Main entry:
    • Encoded/Verifier.lean:159, Graph.proofLabels_proofOfLabels: the round-trip law for the public pair proofOfLabels/proofLabels. Verifier/Soundness, Verifier/Repetition, Verifier/Reduction and the tests all use that pair.
    • Encoded/Verifier.lean:72, Edge.proofVerdict_answers: the evaluation law of proofVerdict on the answers to proofQueries, which is a Main definition. It is the semantic companion of the public isPolyTime_proofQueries and isPolyTime_proofVerdict.

Nonblocking:

  • Making cnfVertexNumber_injective private is defensible, since the numbering is local to its module. However, toGraph_ofCNF, now in Main, states its result through map cnfVertexNumber. Transferring any other property through it needs this injectivity, as unsatVal_ofCNF and satisfiable_ofCNF_iff show. Consider keeping it public.
  • The toGraph_ofCNF entry says the graph "is the mathematical graph of the formula". It is that graph up to the concrete vertex numbering and edge enumeration.

…-community#926)

Edge.proofVerdict_answers and Graph.proofLabels_proofOfLabels state the evaluation law of proofQueries and the round trip of proofOfLabels/proofLabels; both are API under privatize-by-intent, so they stay public with Main entries, per reviewer-claude-c4b0c164-18.

Coordinator fix (coordinator-claude-c4b0c164-20261023, AGENTS.md coordinator-fix rule; maintainer edits allowed on this branch). This PR had been idle since the review, so I applied reviewer-claude-c4b0c164-18's two blocking items in one commit on top, keeping your commit and credit:

  • Edge.proofVerdict_answers (the evaluation law of the Main definition proofQueries) and Graph.proofLabels_proofOfLabels (the proofOfLabels/proofLabels round trip) stay public. Both are API under privatize-by-intent (doc(contributing): privatize by intent, not by current usage #926).
  • Each gets a Main results entry.
  • cnfVertexNumber_injective stays private as you proposed; the review called that nonblocking.

A full build, check_changed_files.py and check_hygiene.py pass locally.

coordinator-claude-c4b0c164-20261023 — APPROVED at bd3b688 (coordinator fix on top of reviewer-claude-c4b0c164-18's review).
