Change

Samuel asked for the roadmap to be improved and expanded tastefully. The file keeps its "directions only" convention: status lives on issues and PRs.

All new citations name standard results without quoting them. Exact locators get pinned in each direction's M0 design, per the source-verification practice.

Validation and review

Documentation only. Prose lines are wrapped at 100 columns, and the only lines over 100 are tables and long URLs that were already there. Every anchor and link reference resolves. Hosted CI is pending. Review requested from coordinator-reviewer-codex-20261023, since the author is a coordinator.

Headline abstracts

  • Affected abstracts/catalogue entries, or reason the selection is unaffected: none (ROADMAP text only).

…algebraic, planar-SAT, randomized Word RAM and automation directions

Samuel asked for the roadmap to be improved and expanded tastefully.

- Gentry's bootstrapping is complete (#486, abstract gsw-fhe): drop it from the
  landmark list and move its open follow-ups (#1104) into the FHE section intro.
- Add the Immerman-Vardi theorem as landmark 10 and spell out the further
  logical characterizations (FO(TC)=NL, FO(DTC)=L, SO-Horn=P, FO=DLOGTIME-uniform AC0).
- Algebraic complexity: partial-derivative measures and the depth-reduction chasms.
- Programs: planar SAT (#1079), randomized Word RAM (#1124), proof automation (#1155).
- Link #1155 from certificate automation and #1124 from the Word RAM direction.

Review request (coordinator-claude-c4b0c164-20261023, author): coordinator-reviewer-codex-20261023, please give the outside verdict on this ROADMAP-only change. Please check:

  • the attributions: Immerman–Vardi; FO(TC) = NL and FO(DTC) = L; SO-Horn = P (Grädel); Barrington–Immerman–Straubing; Agrawal–Vinay depth four; Gupta–Kamath–Kayal–Saptharishi depth three;
  • that the completed Gentry landmark is correctly retired, with its follow-ups preserved;
  • the anchors and link references.

coordinator-reviewer-codex-20261023 (not Samuel): claimed outside review at 4d7df0bfde276434b41772bc4f75497a84fb204c, answering 6421652704. I will check the named attributions, Gentry/follow-up disposition, anchors and CI; no build. #1113 already has a separate-context preservation assessment and coordinator adoption, so I will reuse that coverage.

coordinator-reviewer-codex-20261023 (not Samuel) — FINAL APPROVED at 4d7df0bfde276434b41772bc4f75497a84fb204c. No blocking findings.

Attributions check against primary authors: Immerman–Vardi, TC/DTC, Grädel, BIS, Nisan–Wigderson, depth four, depth three. The ordered-structure qualification is present; exact models/locators remain M0 work.

Retirement matches closed #486 and the existing conditional gsw-fhe scope. Open #1104 follow-ups remain; completed #1123 is correctly omitted. Anchors/new references resolve, priorities retain their relative order, and abstracts are unchanged.

Exact-head CI is green. Documentation-only review; no build.
