The MentionMachine mark: an opening quotation mark on a rounded square

MentionMachine

Get named by AI.

Site · Free scan · Free tools · Guides · Docs · How the score works · Pricing

The home page demo asks five AI engines for the best mobile car detailing in a city and shows which of them name the business, then a free scan scorecard with jobs to fix, then the dashboard: one answer opened to show the engine's own words and sources, and the Fix Pack with a file ready to copy

When someone asks ChatGPT for the best plumber in their town, it names a few businesses and leaves out the rest. MentionMachine tells you which side of that line you are on. It checks whether AI engines can read your site, asks five of them the questions your customers type, records what each one said about you word for word, and writes the files that change the answer.

It runs at mentionmachine.ai. The first check is free and needs no account. This page is the tour.

Five engines. The questions your buyers ask.

Engine What is asked What comes back
ChatGPT The buying questions for your trade and your towns: who is best, who is near, what it costs, whether you are any good. You can add your own. One verdict for every question and engine: Absent, Named, Recommended or Cited. Behind each verdict, the full answer, the model that gave it, the date and the sources it used.

An engine that gave no answer is shown as no answer, not as a nought. A call that failed is marked as failed and left out of the score. Nothing is rounded up to look better. How the score is calculated is public.

How it works

  1. Check the site. A free scan reads your site the way an AI crawler does and lists what stops it: blocked crawlers, missing business details, pages with no clear answer.
  2. Ask the engines. A full scan puts your customers' questions to all five engines and records every answer.
  3. See where you stand. How often you appear, who is named in your place, and which pages the engines quoted.
  4. Fix it. The Fix Pack is a set of files written from your own pages, each with where it goes. Paste them in, scan again, and the history shows what moved.

The free scan

About twenty seconds, no card, no account. Type a domain and get a scorecard: one score for how well the site is set up for AI to read, the jobs worth doing in order, and what is already working. Each job opens to plain words about what is wrong and, where a file fixes it, the file.

The free scan page with a box for a domain, then a scorecard for a site with a score of 76 and five jobs to fix, then one job opened to show what is wrong in plain words and the structured data to paste in

The MentionMachine home page: the headline Check if AI can read your site, a box for a domain with a Scan my site button, and a live demo of five engines answering a question about mobile car detailing A free scan scorecard for bookingmachine.io: a score of 76 in a ring, the line This site is well set up for AI to find it, and five jobs to fix listed below One job on the scorecard opened, Help AI understand your services: a plain explanation, a section headed Send to your developer and a block of structured data to paste into the site
The home page. The demo on the right runs on labelled example data. The scorecard: a score, what it means, and the jobs in order. A job opened. The file is written for this site and ready to copy.

What the engines said

Every answer, word for word. The Answers screen is a grid: your questions down the side, the five engines across the top, a verdict in every cell. Tap a cell and read exactly what that engine told the customer, which model said it, when, and the sources it leaned on.

The dashboard overview with a score and the line You appeared in 13 out of 31 answers, then the Answers grid with one cell opened to show the engine's verbatim reply and its sources, then the Competitors and History screens

The Answers screen: You appeared in 13 out of 31 answers, counts of Absent, Named, Recommended and Cited, and a grid of eight questions against five engines with a mark in each cell One cell of the Answers grid opened: the question, the engine and date, the verdict Cited, the answer verbatim with the business name underlined, and the list of sources the engine gave
The grid. Darker cells are stronger results; dotted cells had no answer to judge. One answer opened: the engine's own words, and where it got them.
The dashboard overview: a score of 23 out of 100 marked Emerging, You appeared in 13 out of 31 answers, share of voice and site setup figures, and the first thing to do The Competitors screen: a form to track a rival, and the businesses the engines name for these questions with how often each appears
The overview: one score, how often you appeared, and what to do first. Competitors: who the engines name when they do not name you.
The Where the answers came from screen: the pages of your own site the engines quoted, then other sources grouped by how soon you could act on them The History screen: two scans a month apart with overall, visibility and site setup scores, and a comparison showing each score rising and thirteen answers improved
Citations: the pages an engine read before it answered. History: scan again after a change and see what moved.

The Fix Pack

The exact changes, written for your site. Finding the problem is half the job. The Fix Pack is the other half: files generated from your own pages, each one with a plain note on what it does and where it goes. Copy it, email it to your developer, or download the lot. A check your site already passes hands over no file.

The plan, What to do in order, with each job ranked by what it is worth, then the Fix Pack: a robots.txt patch, the missing business details as structured data, and a worklist of page titles and summaries

The plan, headed What to do, in order: seven jobs ranked by what each could be worth to the overall score, each with why it matters The Fix Pack, headed Written for your site: the first file is a robots.txt patch with a note on where it goes, the lines to add, and Copy and Email to my developer buttons Further down the Fix Pack: missing business details as a block of structured data with slots to fill, and the start of a worklist of page titles and summaries
The plan ranks every job by what it could be worth to the score. Each file says where it goes and what it changes. Slots in capitals are yours to fill; nothing is invented for you.

Free tools

Three small tools with no account and no AI model behind them. Each does one job on your site and gives you a file or an answer.

Guides for your platform

Knowing what to paste is no use if you cannot find where it goes. The guides walk through each change on the platform your site is built on, and the docs explain every part of a scan and a score.

Pay once

  • The free scan is free and needs no account.
  • The full product is a licence with a one-time payment.
  • You get the scans, the answers, the plan and the Fix Pack for your site.

What a licence includes, and what it costs, is on the pricing page.

Questions

Is this the same as SEO? It overlaps. Search engines rank pages; AI engines write an answer and name a few businesses in it. A site can rank well and still be left out of the answer, usually because the engine could not read it or could not tell what the business does.

Do you ask the real engines? Yes. Each question goes to each engine, and the answer you read is the one that came back. Every result is labelled with how it was asked, because an engine's own app can answer differently from its API.

Will the fixes work on my site builder? The files are plain text and standard structured data, so they go anywhere you can edit a page's code. The guides cover the common platforms step by step.

What if an engine gives a different answer tomorrow? It will, sometimes. That is why every scan is kept as it was, dated, and never recalculated, and why the history compares one scan with the next.

More answers in the docs, and a form a real person reads at mentionmachine.ai/contact.
