Both jobs of the windows-tests workflow broke on the latest main run without any relevant change in the repository:

  • msys: the package install step fails on error: target not found: mksh. MSYS2 removed its mksh package on 2026-09-28 ([remove package] mksh msys2/MSYS2-packages#6601) and provides no other ksh flavor. Drop mksh from the pacman package list. The testsuite already skips ksh tests when no ksh binary is found.
  • cygwin (and msys once its package install succeeds): the Test Modules installation step hangs until the 6 hour job limit cancels it, where it usually takes 7 minutes. Comparing the Cygwin packages installed with the last green run, only libuv1 (1.52.1 to 1.53.0) and libexpat1 changed, and MSYS2 moved to libuv 1.53.0 as well. libuv 1.53.0 switches process spawning on Unix from fork to posix_spawn (unix: use posix_spawn instead of fork libuv/libuv#3520), which cmake relies on for execute_process. Only the install testsuite executes the cmake initialization script, which matches the build testsuite still passing. Pin libuv to 1.52.1-1 on both jobs until the issue is resolved upstream: through the package spec on cygwin, and by downgrading from the still-published MSYS2 package on msys.

The words needed by the commit messages are added to the spelling dictionary.

MSYS2 removed its mksh package on 2026-09-28 and provides no other ksh
flavor, so the pacman install step of the msys job now fails on an
unknown target. Stop requesting this package. The testsuite skips ksh
tests when no ksh binary is found, so no test adaptation is needed.

Since Cygwin and MSYS2 updated their libuv package to 1.53.0, the
install testsuite of the cygwin and msys jobs hangs until the 6 hour
job limit cancels it. This libuv version switches process spawning on
Unix from fork to posix_spawn, which cmake relies on for
execute_process. Only the install testsuite runs the cmake
initialization script, which explains why the build testsuite still
passes. Pin libuv to its previous version on both jobs until the issue
is resolved upstream.
