Why

The spike in #61 asks what it would take for the freethinking plugin to run in Codex, Cursor and Kiro as well as Claude Code, part by part, and which tool should come first. Whether to build multi-tool support, for which tools and in what order, waits on it. This strategy records the decisions taken from the spike's results.

What

Adds the first tech strategy under .freethinking/strategies/: the goals, principles and five streams of work for running the plugin in every coding agent from one source.

Changes

  • Add .freethinking/strategies/multi-tool-plugin.md. It sets out:
    • goals: Claude Code, Cursor and Codex at the closest parity each allows; Kiro next, then every agent that gains a format; one source; a weekly check of each tool's support; and an MCP delivery channel;
    • the current state, from the spike and AWS's agent-toolkit-for-aws;
    • its principles, with Claude Code as the benchmark, and "converge first, compile at the edges";
    • five streams of work, each with a candidate high level design: core-and-glue, tool-packaging, cross-tool-evals, format-watch and mcp-delivery.

The tech strategy for running the freethinking plugin in every coding
agent, from the spike in #61.

This quarter's horizon, parity as skills, sub-agents and rules working
through each agent's own support, command-line tools as the targets, and
everything the strategy does not name out of scope, from the author's
answers to the questions the first version left open.
