test(docs): the conformance-claim sentinel covers scripts, workflows, skills and every README - #2109
scripts/check-conformance-claims.ts skipped scripts/** (it asserted run_test262_suite.ts, which builds the comment posted to every PR, was unscanned), .agents/skills/, .github/, subdirectory READMEs and non-src website files. It also missed several claim shapes. It now scans them all, and ci.yml runs the doc checks on pushes to main.
Files come from git ls-files (walk fallback). Markdown anywhere; TS/JS/JSON/YAML/shell under website/, scripts/, .github/. Fixtures are excluded: the sentinel itself, *.self-test.*, scripts/test-*, tracked node_modules/.
New shapes: wider test262 vocabulary, 3-digit and period/thin-space counts, fractions ("four fifths", "9 in 10"), hedged strength claims ("near-complete conformance"), +-concatenated literals, adjacent JSX text. "test262 %" no longer reads as 262 percent.
Real findings on the wider surface: the run_test262_suite.ts footer named "100%", so I reworded it. Two repo-native skill lines are in ALLOWLIST with reasons (benchmark noise "~10%", the quoted "80%" example). No skill is edited.
Follow-ups, recorded and not filed: dead tc39.es anchor validation (item 12), and running the website suite in CI. The new ci.ymldocs job does not gate artifacts or release; a red job still fails the CI run.
Run npx tsx scripts/check-conformance-claims.ts --self-test. Expected: all cases pass, exit 0.
Run npx tsx scripts/check-conformance-claims.ts. Expected: no claims, exit 0.
Add The test262 pass rate is 88.4% today. inside the footer template literal in scripts/run_test262_suite.ts, then re-run. Expected: a FAIL naming that line, exit 1.

…skills and every README
check-conformance-claims.ts now discovers files through git and covers
markdown anywhere in the tree, TypeScript/JavaScript/JSON/YAML/shell under
website/, scripts/ and .github/, and detects fractions, three-digit and
period-grouped counts, concatenated literals, wider test262 vocabulary and
hedged strength claims. ci.yml runs the documentation checks on pushes to
main.
Refs #1116
… contributing note
The posted test262 comment footer named a 100% threshold; reword it so the
sentinel needs no marker on a line that is published to every pull request.
Cross-reference the two docs jobs.
Refs #1116
The pull request expands the conformance-claim checker’s scan scope and claim detection. It adds checker self-tests and scan-path expectations, runs documentation and conformance checks in CI, and updates the related workflow and contributor documentation.
Changes: Conformance-claim scanning and CI
Layer / File(s)
Summary
Scan scope and file discovery scripts/check-conformance-claims.ts
The checker now classifies a broader set of repository paths, applies additional exclusions, and discovers files through Git or a fallback checkout walk.
Text extraction and claim detection scripts/check-conformance-claims.ts
The checker now extracts claims from concatenated source literals, JSX text, YAML, and shell. It detects additional count, fraction, percentage, ratio, and strength claim forms.
Exceptions and checker validation scripts/check-conformance-claims.ts, scripts/run_test262_suite.ts
The checker adds two explicit allowlist exceptions and expands its self-tests and scan-path expectations. The test262 footer wording changes to “already pass in full.”
CI and hook integration .github/workflows/ci.yml, .github/workflows/pr.yml, lefthook.yml, CONTRIBUTING.md, docs/build-system.md, docs/testing.md
CI adds a documentation job that runs documentation checks and conformance-claim validation. The pre-commit hook matches more file types. Workflow and contributor documentation describe the checks.
The conformance-claim checker can miss a three-digit pass count that ends a sentence or is followed by a comma. This is a small gap in a guard script, not a production behavior change. It can be fixed with a one-line regex tweak and is safe to follow up on.
Security architecture risk: Minimal · up to d04a0
The broader checker analyzes repository text without executing scanned content. The new CI job has read-only repository permissions and disables persisted checkout credentials. No material security risk introduced or worsened by this change was identified.
Retained concerns
No architecture-level concerns identified.
Security review details
Security Blast Radius
inferred — For the examined scanner path, contributor-controlled content reaches text analysis, job diagnostics, and a failing validation status. Expanded scan eligibility does not itself grant execution authority over those files.
Trust Boundaries and Controls
observed — The new documentation job inherits contents-read permission and disables credential persistence during checkout. The actions-write permission used by the existing supersede job is scoped to that separate job.
Resilience and Maintainability Implications
observed — The filesystem self-test lifecycle is unchanged: a PID-named checkout directory and a randomly named external temporary directory are removed in finally. PID-based ownership and interruption can leave cleanup limitations that predate this PR. The new fallback walk does not honor Git ignore rules and can encounter leftovers, but accepted scan targets remain checkout-confined regular files.

Explanation
[#1116] The scanner covers the four website modules, and PR CI runs its self-tests and claim check. Explanation
Docstring coverage is 0.00% which is insufficient. The required threshold is 80.00%. Docstring coverage is scoped to functions touched by this diff with cyclomatic complexity of at least 2. Documentation-only edits and deletions within surviving functions are included; unchanged diff context and fully deleted functions are excluded. Analyzed 1 functions across 2 files. 14 pinned AWFY benchmarks. Medians from 5 interleaved samples per engine; raw JSON includes min/max/CV and is attached as the awfy-report artifact. Δ compares PR Goccia median against the same-runner main Goccia median; overlapping min/max ranges are treated as unchanged noise. Hardware counters were requested but not recorded: perf stat failed: Error: No supported events found. Rows below 0.5ms are timer-floor sensitive.
Deterministic profile diff: no significant changes.
Measured on ubuntu-latest x64. Each PR run also builds the main base and benchmarks it back-to-back on the same runner after a warm-up discard, so the ranges compare two runs measured under the same conditions; overlapping min/max ranges are treated as unchanged noise. Percentage deltas are secondary context. See docs/adr/0076.
1.00× means aligned; values above 1.00× mean Goccia was proportionally slower after normalizing JetStream’s higher-is-better score. QuickJS is the bar for the interpreter-speed target; Node.js, with its JIT, is shown for scale. Raw samples and failure details remain in the jetstream-report artifact.
18 pinned Web Tooling workloads; 18 workloads produced at least one Goccia sample. Raw results from 1 sample per workload; full stdout/stderr for failures and min/max/CV stay in the web-tooling-report artifact. This lane is Goccia-only by design.
GC rows aggregate the main thread plus all worker thread-local GCs. Test runner worker shutdown frees thread-local heaps in bulk; that shutdown reclamation is not counted as GC collections or collected objects.

Steady-state failures and timeouts are non-blocking; PASS → non-timeout failure transitions fail the conformance gate. Measured on ubuntu-latest x64. Areas grouped by the first two test262 path components; minimum 25 attempted tests, areas that already pass in full excluded. Δ vs main compares against the most recent cached main baseline.

- Line 639: Update BARE_COUNT_RE to recognize three-digit counts followed by
sentence-ending punctuation or a comma before non-digit text, while still
rejecting decimal tails such as 940.5. Add self-test cases verifying both the
sentence-ending count is caught and the decimal example remains clean.

BARE_COUNT_RE rejected any count followed by a period or comma, so
"passes 940." and "passed 940, failed 12" escaped while the grouped-count
rule caught them. Reject only a decimal tail.
