Playwright Test 1.64.0 runs the same read-only smoke in desktop Chrome, Firefox and WebKit, Android Chrome through adb, and iOS Safari through its Web Inspector. Chrome stays the required target. WebdriverIO, its Mocha types and the Appium setup are removed. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
Remove the Chrome flags file a failed Android launch leaves behind, close the context when saving a trace or screenshot fails, and say that Android keeps Chrome's existing profile. Mobile Safari's one tab must already show BASE_URL. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>

Replace the existing WebdriverIO browser smoke with Playwright Test. The same smoke runs in installed Chrome, Playwright Firefox/WebKit, actual iOS Safari through Web Inspector, or Android Chrome through the Android API. Chrome remains the required default; the repository owns any wider browser gate.
Mobile targets require an explicitly reserved test device. iOS uses its one existing tab at the site and synthetic input; Android restarts Chrome with its persistent profile. A missing target fails. Launch failures clean up this run's Android flags, and failed public checks retain screenshots and traces. No product code or additional test suite was added.
Validation: full repository check passed; Chrome/Firefox/WebKit smoke passed. The shared mobile fixture passed on actual iOS Safari and Android Chrome, and a wrong title correctly failed with screenshot/trace artifacts. Independent review covered mobile ownership and cleanup; CodeRabbit reviewed the Astro migration with no findings.
