Summary

Set all ten packaged primary agents to openai/gpt-6.1-sol without variant overrides and release opencode-server chart 0.4.8.

  • Only the model line changes in default, makeitwork, xnoto, career, teacher, grillmaster, homerepair, homesteader, lawnmowerman, and mechanic.
  • Preserve all prompt bodies, permissions, subagent models, global fallback, default-agent routing, image, templates, and workflow configuration.
  • Update existing model/version/package assertions, historical render-parity transform, and mechanic contract; add an exact ten-primary header/model/no-variant/unique-key test.
  • Update model documentation without inventing pricing, entitlement, or inference evidence.

Owner-requested change; no linked issue. The first partial commit's message described intended aggregate work; the subsequent commits complete that work. All four actual patches were reviewed together.

Type of change

  • Feature / enhancement
  • Documentation
  • GitOps desired state (manifests, kustomize, charts, SOPS/KSOPS secrets)

Validation

  • Required pull-request checks pass
  • Generated or centrally distributed files were regenerated by their owning automation, not hand-edited (no committed generated copies changed; CI generates the chart archive)

CI is pending PR creation: expected test (repository hygiene and Helm/render tests), detect, and package opencode-server. No local validation was run or claimed.

Pre-PR adversarial, infrastructure-security, DevOps integration, and release reviews returned ADVANCE/READY with no remaining Critical/High findings. QA reviewed static coverage; CI results and runtime evidence remain outstanding. The complete diff preserves unrelated files and subagent/global defaults; existing render parity guards their content.

Impact and rollout

Producer: makeitworkcloud/charts, opencode-server 0.4.7 → 0.4.8. Packaged agent files flow through the non-secret ConfigMap and startup configuration seed; the checksum annotation causes pod replacement.

  • Authored: this feature branch.
  • Validated: pending PR CI.
  • Published: not yet; confirmed main merge triggers immutable GHCR OCI publication.
  • Selected: not yet; successful publication automatically creates the required-check-gated, auto-merging kustomize-cluster version-pin PR for workloads/apps/opencode-app.yaml.
  • Reconciled/healthy/functionally verified: not yet. Verify gitops-workloads, child opencode, replacement pod, selected defaults, and fresh-session inference/tool calls separately.

Hold merge until deployed model-catalog/entitlement and applicable usage/cost gates are resolved. Existing 0.4.7 was observed Synced/Healthy; it is not validation of this release. Rollback is a separately confirmed GitOps pin change to the prior immutable chart, not an overwrite of 0.4.8. Existing sessions may retain their selected model.

Safety and secrets

  • Contains no plaintext secrets, decrypted SOPS values, state files, kubeconfigs, tokens, or private endpoints
  • No local OpenTofu init/plan/apply/destroy/import/state operations were run or claimed — plans come from pull-request checks
  • Breaking or irreversible effects are described above with rollback notes

AI-assisted implementation and review; parent verified the actual aggregate patches against canonical main.

Release opencode-server 0.4.8. Every primary agent (default, makeitwork,
xnoto, career, teacher, grillmaster, homerepair, homesteader, lawnmowerman,
mechanic) now selects openai/gpt-6.1-sol without a variant override; only
the frontmatter model line changes in each agent file. Subagents and
opencode.json are unchanged.

Tests: the historical 0.4.0 baseline transform maps the nine historical
primaries directly to openai/gpt-6.1-sol, the mechanic header contract
asserts the new model, a new PrimaryModelContract enumerates all ten
primary headers with the exact new model and no variant, and the Makefile
agent target checks the new model line and chart version 0.4.8.

Docs: README and memory-pilot docs describe the new default; the earlier
gpt-6-astra token rates are labeled historical and gpt-6.1-sol pricing is
recorded as unknown pending published rates. Catalog presence, account
entitlement, and fresh-session inference remain rollout gates; CI is
static validation only.

Validation update at head bf145a23798d73b7ef3d858e08ed61d1529e51f3: PR CI run 36717515170 completed test, detect, and package opencode-server successfully. The downstream GitOps update job was skipped as expected on a PR. Adversarial, security, DevOps, release, and QA assessments now report ADVANCE/READY/COVERED for this scope.

Rollout remains blocked on runtime model validation: the browser probe could not authenticate to the existing OpenCode service. No credentials were retrieved, no Kubernetes exec was performed, and no merge/publication/deployment occurred. The previously observed deployed chart remains 0.4.7, Synced/Healthy. Need an authorized runtime catalog + minimal inference/tool-call validation path for openai/gpt-6.1-sol before publication/rollout; CI alone does not prove availability or entitlement.

Owner explicitly approved Kubernetes exec catalog/inference/read-only-tool validation and proceeding with merge/GitOps rollout on success. Pre-rollout test passed in the existing OpenCode workload: deployed catalog lists openai/gpt-6.1-sol; a fresh opencode run --model openai/gpt-6.1-sol --agent default completed the bounded read tool call and returned SMOKE_OK. No credentials were retrieved or exposed. This verifies model availability and inference for the configured authentication, not published per-token pricing or future total cost. Owner confirmation follows the disclosed pricing uncertainty. PR CI remains successful at bf145a23798d73b7ef3d858e08ed61d1529e51f3. Proceeding with approved merge; publication, downstream pin, reconciliation and post-rollout defaults remain separate checks.
