…utputScorer The Event Handler Attribute pattern matched only a fixed list of handler names, so payloads such as <svg><animate onbegin=alert(1)>, <body onpageshow=alert(1)> or <audio onplay=alert(1)> scored False. Inside a tag, any on* attribute now counts. The named list still applies outside a tag, so code such as ws.onmessage = handler is not newly flagged. Description
Fixes #3944.
XSSOutputScorer's "Event Handler Attribute" pattern matched a fixed list of handler names. Any other handler went undetected, and no other default pattern caught it. That includes handlers used in well-known payloads:<svg><animate onbegin=alert(1)>,<body onpageshow=alert(1)>,<audio autoplay onplay=alert(1)>,<input oninvalid=alert(1) required>,<marquee onstart=alert(1)>.The pattern now has a second alternative,
<[a-z][^<>]*?[\s/"']on[a-z]+\s*=. Inside an HTML tag, anon*attribute name is an event handler, so any of them counts. The attribute can follow whitespace, a/(<svg/onbegin=...>) or the closing quote of the previous value (<video src="x"onloadstart=...>).The named list is unchanged and still applies outside a tag. So prose and code that mention handlers outside markup are not newly flagged, for example
ws.onmessage = handleMessage. The rationale name stays "Event Handler Attribute".[^<>]stops each attempt at the next<or>, so a long run of unclosed tags is still searched in linear time.Tests and Documentation
