I am Mohammad Ali Jesar (mjesar). I build and extend production Ruby on Rails applications, integrate AI into existing products, and develop software for Shopify and other e-commerce platforms. 7+ years of experience, 4+ of them in Shopify and e-commerce.

Featured projects

Each project has a full case study on my website: the problem, what I built, what I verified and what broke.

  • shop_mcp_server (code): an MCP server in Rails that gives Claude real access to a store's products, orders and inventory, with semantic search on pgvector.
  • ai_shop_assistant (code): a Rails shopping chat where the AI searches Shopify's live catalog over MCP instead of making products up.
  • product_geo_agent (code): an AI agent that scores how discoverable a Shopify product is to AI shopping assistants, with evals and tracing.
  • support_engineer (code): a Rails support agent, in progress, that looks up real order data with tools and asks a human before risky actions.

Open source: three merged pull requests in the little_ghost Ruby agent framework, fixing Gemini tool-calling and agent-hook bugs I found while building product_geo_agent (#112, #113, #115).

What I do

  • Ruby on Rails development: new apps, APIs and MVPs, and features, fixes and performance work in Rails apps already in production.
  • AI engineering in Rails: AI assistants grounded in real data, agents with validated tools, MCP servers, RAG with pgvector, evals, and workflow automation with n8n.
  • Shopify and e-commerce: custom Shopify and BigCommerce apps, checkout and Shopify Functions, Shopify Plus B2B, and product, inventory and order sync. I contributed to five apps on the Shopify App Store.
  • AI discoverability (GEO and AEO): helping online stores and brands get found and described correctly by ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google AI. Audits of AI crawler access, product content, FAQs and structured data, then the fixes. product_geo_agent runs the same checks on Shopify products.
