fix(sdk): read platform base keys from structured configuration - #429
Fix Planner.fetchBaseKey to read the platform’s base_key as a protobuf Struct, including canonical kas_uri and nested public_key fields.
Map supported platform algorithm names to SDK policy algorithms.
Validate required field types and nonblank values.
Remove legacy JSON-string parsing and compatibility-only code and tests.
Preserve base-key selection during autoconfiguration for unmapped attributes.
Summary by CodeRabbit
New Features
Base key configuration now uses a structured value, with supported key types mapped to their corresponding algorithms.
Added key type mappings for hybrid and ML-KEM algorithms.
Bug Fixes
Invalid or incomplete base key configuration—including missing required fields or unsupported algorithms—is treated as unavailable rather than causing a parsing error.
Base key selection is covered for unmapped attributes, including the case where neither a base key nor a default KAS is available.
No actionable comments were generated in the recent review.
Walkthrough
Planner now reads base_key as a protobuf struct and returns no base key when required fields are invalid or the algorithm is unsupported. KeyType stores policy algorithms and maps supported algorithms. Tests cover structured configuration and base-key use during autoconfiguration.

fetchBaseKey reads structured protobuf values and maps supported key types to policy algorithms. Tests cover supported mappings, invalid or missing fields, unsupported algorithms, and the structured configuration fixture.
Use fetched base keys in autoconfiguration sdk/src/test/java/io/opentdf/platform/sdk/PlannerTest.java
Tests check that an unmapped attribute uses the fetched base key and that planning fails without a KAS lookup when the base key is absent.

A rabbit reads the key fields right, In protobuf’s structured light. It maps each type to its place, And tests the missing-field case. Base keys guide the planning way, While KAS checks join the day.

- Around line 109-111: Restore legacy JSON parsing in fetchBaseKey for
string-valued base_key values: parse the JSON and throw SDKException on
malformed input, require kas_url, kid, pem, and algorithm to be nonblank strings
without coercing other JSON types, and return empty when a required field is
missing or blank. Map the legacy enum-name algorithm and reject legacy sentinel
values before default-KAS fallback; leave the STRUCT_VALUE path unchanged.
Update PlannerTest to cover valid legacy JSON, malformed JSON, numeric kas_url,
