Assemble links instead of providing raw HTML with hyperlinks

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • New Features
    • Relationship, disharmony, and cycle-breakdown entries can link directly to their source files in the project repository.
    • Bubble charts use repository paths for source links, while retaining existing links when no path is available.
  • Improvements
    • Relationship tables now sort by relationship and display source-to-target labels consistently, including in copied and exported data.
    • Relationship and cycle-breakdown labels display removal markers where applicable. Entries without source paths remain plain text where appropriate.

📝 Walkthrough

Walkthrough

Report preparation builds relationship, disharmony, and cycle links from structured fields and repository URLs. Table values and sorting use structured names. Disharmony chart URLs use repository URLs and bubble paths, with payload URLs as fallback.

Changes

Structured Report Rendering

Layer / File(s) Summary
Build safe report labels
lib/renderer.js, assets/refactor-first-report.mustache, public/assets/refactor-first-report.mustache, tests/unit/renderer.test.js
Relationship, disharmony, and cycle breakdown labels use structured fields. Paths and names are escaped, and generated markup is sanitized. Entries without required structured fields are omitted.
Use structured values in tables
lib/table-operations.js, assets/refactor-first-report.mustache, public/assets/refactor-first-report.mustache, tests/unit/table-operations.test.js, tests/unit/table-enhancer.test.js, tests/e2e/report-pagination.spec.js
Relationship table values and sort keys use structured names. Largest-cycle values handle missing names and removal markers. Test fixtures and export expectations use the updated labels.
Construct chart source URLs
lib/utils.js, lib/report-view.js, tests/unit/report-view.test.js
Disharmony chart bubbles use repoUrl and path to construct source URLs. The payload URL is used when no path is available; otherwise, the URL is null.

Change: Feature

Merge Risk: ⚪ Minimal · up to b1ba8

The change builds report links from structured fields and repository paths. No actionable merge-blocking risk remains after review.

Security Architecture Review

Security architecture risk: 🔵 Low · up to b1ba8

Existing sanitization and safe-navigation checks remain in place. No material security regression was established, but malformed paths can prevent a report from displaying, and compatibility with older report data is not fully established.

Retained concerns
No architecture-level concerns identified.

Security review details

Security Blast Radius

  • inferred — The inspected changed sinks affect the browser displaying a selected report and user-initiated navigation from that report. No expansion to privileged server execution, tenant authority or persistent data ownership was established within these paths.

Trust Boundaries and Controls

  • observed — Structured report fields remain untrusted. Generated labels pass through restricted sanitization, final report HTML passes through the existing DOMPurify policy, and sanitized new-tab anchors receive noopener noreferrer. Chart clicks still require a parsed HTTP(S) URL and open with noopener. These controls predate the PR and remain in the changed flows; chart navigation is scheme-restricted, not repository-host-restricted.

Resilience and Maintainability Implications

  • inferred — Malformed Unicode paths can make the new encoding operation throw during preparation or chart construction. Chart replacement destroys the previous instance before URL mapping, so a failed replacement can leave a destroyed instance registered. The report component catches these failures and replaces the view with an error page; URIError falls into the general, non-retryable category. This is a report-local failure-containment limitation, not an established cross-user security regression.

Hardening Proposals

  • proposed — Define safe handling for malformed path strings and compute derived chart URLs before destroying the current chart, so input validation failures do not interrupt replacement. Preserve sanitization and navigation checks at the final sinks.

Review comments at @lib/renderer.js:
- Around line 188-195: Update prepareDisharmonyCell to escape cell.content with
escapeHtml before inserting it into the anchor markup, matching the other
builders so content renders as text rather than nested HTML.

Review comments at @lib/report-view.js:
- Line 555: Update the source URL construction in the code around `isHttpUrl` to
encode each segment of `bubble.path` while preserving `/` separators, then
append the encoded path to `repoUrl`. Ensure filename characters such as `#` and
`?` remain part of the source path rather than becoming URL fragment or query
delimiters.
- Line 555: Update the source-link value passed from enhanceReport to bubbleUrl
so it includes the required separator before bubble.path; ensure concatenating a
repository-root URL with paths such as src/Foo.java produces a valid link.
