Brings packages/notch-mod on main up to what is published at github.com/sameeeeeeep/ask-notch (release v0.3.0, live since 2026-10-09). Main still had switchboard-notch 0.1.4.

0.2.0 (already shipped and in directory review)

  • Renamed switchboard-notch → Ask Notch (ask-notch)
  • Card is readable JavaScript run by macOS's osascript (no compiled binary, no notarizing)
  • /notch companion cat
  • README states the one program, what it sends and where, for the directory reviewers

0.3.0

  • /notch <any words>: Claude reads them and changes the setting through the plugin's own mcp__ask-notch__settings tool. The exact words (on, off, cursor, test…) still apply instantly; bare /notch shows the settings.
  • While cards are on, one fixed paragraph is added to the system prompt so Claude asks its choices with AskUserQuestion instead of listing them in text. A/B in a real interactive session: text without it, a card with it. (A skill alone did not change behaviour.)
  • skills/ask-at-the-notch: same guidance as a skill.
  • publish.sh mirrors skills/ too.

Tested

  • claude plugin validate passes; claude plugin test 11/11
  • Interactive run: "/notch put it by my mouse pointer please" → Claude called settings (at: "cursor")
  • Installed from the marketplace on the founder's Mac as 0.3.0

Only packages/notch-mod changes.

… binary

The directory scan flagged "ships code the scan can't read" (the Swift sb-card
binary). helper/card.js replaces it: JavaScript for Automation with the AppKit
bridge, run as /usr/bin/osascript -l JavaScript helper/card.js '<json>', with
the same JSON in/out contract, so register.js only changes its argv.

Same card, pixel-matched to sb-card 0.1.4 (mean difference 0.04/255): Claude
design language, drops from the notch or opens beside the pointer, numbered
options with the recommendation highlighted, typed answer box, esc falls back
to Claude Code's dialog, 540 s timeout, .transient + .fullScreenAuxiliary.

Keyboard: the card appears as a background-only app and only then becomes an
accessory app, refuses to become key until clicked, and hands activation back
if macOS activates it anyway. (A test of the old sb-card showed it being handed
activation and keystrokes when the app that started it was frontmost.) One
click on an option answers; a click on the card enables 1-4/arrows/return/esc
without focusing the text box; a click on the box types there.

register.js also gains /notch companion cat|clawd|off (default off; clawd is a
hidden placeholder). tests: 8 plugin tests; tests/card-selftest.sh drives the
real card off-screen from inside its own process (no system-wide input).

The owner's painted orange cat (visuals livewall sprites), downscaled into 12
small frames (~220 KB) on one shared canvas by listing/make-companion.py. When
the card appears the cat pounces out from behind its right edge, sits beside it
while you decide, and lies down facing the card after 20 s. It sits in extra
window space to the right, so the card itself doesn't move.

assets/companion/clawd holds only a README: no Clawd art was copied; whether a
Clawd companion ships is the owner's call. Without a sequence.json the option
shows no companion, and build.sh/publish.sh leave the folder out.

…bmission

plugin ask-notch / "Ask Notch", mirror sameeeeeeep/ask-notch (publish.sh; repo
not created). README "What it does on your machine" and Privacy describe the
osascript card; build.sh no longer compiles, signs or notarizes. LISTING.md is
prepared for a new submission with the owner's portal checklist (withdraw
ce733ea6..., submit the new bundle). New screenshots and compare-0.2.0.jpg
(old sb-card vs new card.js, light/dark, cat, real on-screen captures).

…h the question on stdin (cwd = plugin root), cat frame list inlined in card.js (no JSON asset), no $PWD in README, self-test script not shipped, README states the one program, what it sends and where, and when it stands in for AskUserQuestion

- /notch <anything>: Claude reads it and changes the setting through the plugin's own
mcp__ask-notch__settings tool; the old exact words still apply instantly; bare /notch shows the settings
- While cards are on, one fixed paragraph in the system prompt has Claude ask its choices with
AskUserQuestion instead of listing them (A/B in an interactive session: text without it, card with it)
- skills/ask-at-the-notch: the same guidance as a skill, shipped in the zip
- README: settings in plain words, the note and the skill under what the mod does
