Nicotine 👋

Now building Nicotine, a cross-platform coding target for AI and replacement for Electron and Tauri.

  • 1996 Academy Scientific and Technical Achievement Award (with James Kajiya) for pioneering computer-generated fur and hair in motion pictures

  • Long-time systems, graphics, and developer-tools engineer

Current focus

Nicotine — a small, reviewable runtime and packaging system so AI can produce real cross-platform applications without the size, complexity, and opacity of Electron or Tauri.

Selected open-source work

  • aws — early command-line access to Amazon EC2, S3, SQS, ELB, and SDB
  • solo — prevent a program from running more than one copy at a time
  • Other utilities and experiments
