Summary

The remaining local performance adapters duplicated the shared acquisition, validation, rendering, and publication workflow. This adopts the published research-repo-tools==0.2.2 package, replaces those adapters with direct CLI recipes and static declarations, and removes the root scripts/ directory.

  • Declare full/non-exact measurement plans, the independent 417-case scientific inventory, native correctness gates, saved-sample validation, and explicit publication inputs.
  • Retain eight plot metrics with mean/median and linear/log views for retained, full scratch, and non-exact scratch inputs. Non-exact plots have separate asset paths; the README uses one canonical LU-solve median/log view.
  • Require independent release/revision assertions, source/harness freshness, complete evidence, and transactional formatting for README publication. Preserve immutable archive links through release metadata updates.
  • Move useful consumer tests into tooling/tests/ and update command, documentation, formatting, type-checking, and Semgrep ownership.

Deliberate migration decisions

New acquisitions require both labels to be v0.5.0 or newer. Existing v0.5.0/v0.4.6 reports, plots, CSV/JSON, and complete-run files remain byte-identical frozen records; their regeneration requirement was retired with maintainer approval in #296. No provenance is backfilled and no legacy policy exception is introduced.

Tooling recipe arguments now select explicit inputs and independently asserted identities. Captured snapshots include nonignored untracked files; measurement toolchain, native target, flags, wrappers, and output settings are declared. README keeps Markdown-aware linting while its full immutable URLs are exempt from the additional raw-character line limit. Other active documents retain that raw limit. The migration and replacement inventory are documented in docs/dev/performance-tooling-adoption.md.

Upstream release

The missing minimum-release contract was fixed in acgetchell/research-repo-tools#118 and released through acgetchell/research-repo-tools#119.

Registry hashes match the signed release assets and committed lockfile. Final consumer validation imports the installed published package.

Validation

Local macOS validation passed for 580f5d34f60abc92c8731175a657ad5c6d088542:

  • just check and final just ci: 108 Python tests, 1,031 Rust tests, doctests, examples, documentation, formatting, spelling, types, and static checks.
  • Post-staging Semgrep: 48 rules, 128 targets, zero findings.
  • Native discovery: 533 comparison and 354 exact cases, with all 417 independently required cases present.
  • Native scientific gates: 26 exact-input and 42 comparison-input tests.
  • Actual installed recipes cover full/non-exact acquisition, saved archive transport, offline rendering after scratch deletion, plotting, README publication, floor rejection, stale inputs, incomplete scratch, formatter failures, and frozen historical hashes.

The final head 2e7eec0636cae3cff4c6633558fa84c8a9a3480c includes the two documentation review corrections. just markdown-fix markdown-ci doc-check passed locally, and the complete native CI run passed:

CodeRabbit approved this exact head; both findings are fixed and resolved. All required merge checks passed. The advisory benchmark workflow was still running at merge readiness. No real timing samples or new performance claims are part of this change.

Closes #296.

- Adopt published research-repo-tools v0.2.2 and its minimum-release
acquisition contract through static measurement and publication declarations.
- Replace local Python adapters with direct installed CLI recipes, preserve
independent scientific inventories, and move consumer tests into tooling.
- Require explicit source identities and input selection for publication;
preserve historical evidence as frozen records without regeneration.
- Document intentional tooling CLI changes, captured working-tree semantics,
fixed measurement settings, and immutable README/archive metadata links.
- Validate with just check and just ci: 108 Python tests, 1031 Rust tests,
doctests, static analysis, formatting, spelling, and documentation checks.

Closes #296

Explanation

The changed files support #296. They cover shared-tool adoption, performance declarations and recipes, validation tests, ownership paths, documentation, CI configuration, plotting, publication, and historical-artifact preservation. The documentation-only follow-up remains within the migration scope. No unrelated Rust behavior, replacement Python orchestration, historical benchmark rerun, provenance backfill, or Python runtime-policy change is identified.

Explanation

The PR implements the coding objectives in #296. It adopts research-repo-tools==0.2.2, replaces local performance adapters with installed recipes and declarations, removes scripts/, relocates consumer tests, and adds workflow validation. The current PR description reports that local macOS validation passed, but native Linux, macOS, and Windows CI remains pending. #296 requires those native checks and final validation evidence before closure.

Resolution

Run the required native Linux, macOS, and Windows checks for the reviewed head. Record passing evidence with the focused checks and final just ci result before closing #296.
